Snow Days

We got our first snow fall on Wednesday. I don't know about everybody else, but I LOVE snow. I wait for it every year and just love to watch it fall and I love the way it looks covering everything. So here is a view from our patio - very pretty. I am now going to use my blog to defend all Marylanders. We get a lot of criticism for "freaking out" about snow and I just feel that it is my duty to defend my peeps. We do worry about snow because Maryland is very humid. That means our snow is very very wet snow. You combine that with fluctuating freezing temperatures and you get serious black ice issues. They cancel school because they don't want your little ones in any danger as they know that they will have to travel on windy backroads possibly covered in black ice. So, just give us a break - we're doing it for the children :-)

You are too cute! Good defense. Personally, I appreciate everybody being extra cautious because then I don't look like a freak when I'm driving down the road going 15mph.

"We do it for the children"

You crack me up.

But yes, I did slide around a few corners while driving in MD, even in my little road-hugging Accord.

Nice defense but you are still whoosy. j/k :) And I grew up there. But back then I loved getting out of school every other day, but then we had to make it up all summer long.

I love your defense of Maryland and the snow. I actually agree that the snow here is a lot different than Utah's. Anyone want to drive in freezing rain...didn't think so! And although I have to hear cracks from my husband and fellow dental students about how ridiculous Baltimore County is for closing schools...it's really not safe for busses to be driving everywhere and have busy pick-up time during a snowstorm...trust me dismissal is CRAZY enough without snow and ice. Well...I also can't complain about my students leaving or arriving early/late...I do love snow days! :)

I am so glad that you are doing it for the children Amanda because I was worried that it was just for you. I feel better now...:)

ha ha ha! Amanda, you crack me up. I appreciate the explanation about the snow. Seriously, I do. It all makes sense now. I would always get frustrated with Utahans for not being careful in the snow. Especially when I have my kids in the car with me. ...and it's like you said, we want to make sure the children are safe. :)
