Rediscoverd

Anyone who knows me, knows how important music is in my life. I have played the piano for over twenty years and I love to sing. When we moved into our apartment, I brought my piano but I rarely played because I didn't want to upset the neighbors. Well, I had to get a piece together for church so I was forced to play. It was so fun for me! I got out all my old music and was playing stuff I hadn't played in over a year. I am so grateful for music in my life. I feel it has really helped me to connect to people and to my Heavenly Father. Luckily, I married a guy who loves it as much as I do! I am rededicated to playing and hopefully my neighbors won't mind too much!

We got a Wii!!!

I came home from work last night and sitting in the foyer was a sign that said "SURPRISE" and under it was a beautiful new Wii!!! I was so excited! I have been wanting to get one for a while now but it seemed impossible that we would ever get one! Nick has been secretly doing all the hunting and surprised me with it yesterday! Such a great surprise!!! Not only that, he cleaned our entire house - including the toilets! What a lucky girl I am!! Thanks babe, I love you!!

So Grateful

This past weekend was my church's annual conference. We got to hear our wonderful leaders speak and it was so uplifting. In a world where seems to be chaos and hysteria all around us, it was so nice to see our leaders so calm and peaceful. I loved so much hearing them speak about prayer and finding joy in this journey. What a blessing! There was no hysteria about the economy, gas prices, or war. There were only sweet messages about prayer, faith, repentance, and families. What an wonderful way for us to spend our time. It just made me realize how blessed we are to have leaders who are so inspired and in tune with the Spirit, who are able to see the big picture.

Cherry Blossom Festival

Last Wednesday Nick and I were able to head down to DC to check out the Cherry Blossom Festival. I have no idea why I have never been before, being as I grew up here! It was so beautiful. Nick and both loved it so much. I had such a feeling of gratitude for all the natural beauties of the earth. We rented a paddle boat and got to go out onto the Potomac River and get some really beautiful views of the blossoms that we couldn't get from land. It was just a wonderful day. Walking around DC also made me feel so very grateful for this country and the principles upon which it was built. Our forefathers were spiritual men who had a very serious burden placed upon them and they did not take it lightly. I love this quote inside the Thomas Jefferson Memorial:
"God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever. "
As I stood in the memorial, I marveled at how wise his words were. Little did he know that centuries later, our country would denounce that same God in schools, in homes, etc....
It was just a really great experience for me and cemented my faith in my Heavenly Father. Here are a couple of pics we took:
