Meeting Our Neighbors

Sunday night Nick and I decided to take Brady over to meet our neighbors horses. We weren't sure how he would like it but he did okay. He was definitely curious! The horse was pretty curious about him too and we thought that maybe he had mistaken Brady for food!

Two Month Check-Up

On Monday I took Brady to his 2 month check up appointment. Somehow it slipped my mind that this was the appointment that he gets his first shots and I was totally unprepared for it! I would have brought back up!!! The actually check up went great. Brady is 10 lbs 3 oz. and 21 inches long, putting him in the 10th percentile for height and 25th for weight. He's still just a little guy but growing nonetheless. The doctor also said he has "exceptional focus" for a baby his age - that was nice to hear!! He has happy, smiling and cooing when the nurse brought in his three shots and one oral immunization. If he only knew what was about to happen?!?!!? Luckily, the oral immunization was sweet so she gave him that fast and then gave him the three shots as fast as she could. Poor Brady!! Because of his exceptional focus, he was able to look right up at his mommy with tears in his eyes as if to say, "Why would you let her hurt me, Mommy?" SO SAD! I could hardly stand it! Anyway, it seems we're doing something right - Brady seems to be as healthy as can be!

Hooray! Hooray! I'm 2 months old today!

It's hard being so cute. My mom and dad love to try new hair-dos on me and they are constantly pointing that camera in my face. But most of all, I keep hearing them say they don't know what they would do without me! I guess they are pretty neat! I am such a big boy now. I am even letting mommy sleep for three hours at a time at night which seems to make her pretty happy because every time she picks me up from my bassinet she covers my face with kisses! I also love my playtime mat and love all the blinking lights and sounds. I love to smile and laugh and I just figured out that if I coo at my parents, they talk back to me. Life is going pretty good!

Playing Catch Up

As I mentioned before, my brothers came out for Brady's blessing. My oldest brother is married and has three of the cutest kids in the world, aside from Brady that is!!! Two days before they were supposed to leave for Maryland, his wife, Krista called and said that the two little ones, Keira and Christian, had gotten RSV. Because RSV is so contagious and that is the exact thing we had worked so hard protecting Brady from, we decided it would be best if they didn't come. That was a really hard decision to make because I love Krista like my own sister and I wanted her to come so badly. I wanted Brady to meet his only Aunt on my side!! She, being the great person she is, gave my brother the go ahead to come even though that left her home alone with two sickies all alone. So Tom came with his oldest son Tommy and this is the first time since Keira was born that I have had one on one time with him. I may be biased but I think he is the sweetest kid I have ever met. He always says thank you and your welcome and has about a million compliments to dish out! He loved Brady and it really warmed my heart to see them together. Here are a couple of pictures of them together:
Tommy and Brady meeting for the first time!
Just sharing a laugh!
Brady admiring his big cousin!!
After the blessing, Tom left to go be with his wife and sick kids and Tommy got to stay for an extra day and a half. Because he was such a nice boy, he got to have TOMMY DAY on Monday and he invited Nick, Brady and myself to join in the festivities. All Tommy had on the agenda was that he wanted to go to CHUCK E' CHEESE!! So we braved the 8 inches of snow and headed out for a fun night together. This was Brady's first Chuck E' Cheese experience and we let him dive right in on the fun. He was a sure shot at the basketball toss!!
He even rode the horses!
And where do you think he learned how to ride? His big cousin, of course!! It was such a fun night! We all ran around like crazy trying to get Tommy as many tickets as possible so that he could get the best prize in the house! Nick and my Dad hit the jackpot with this battleship game.
And, a big thank you to Grandma for watching Brady so that I could play games!!!

Decision Time

I just got off the phone with Nick. He is down at University of Maryland dropping off his letter of intent and the big check to secure his spot in their anestesia program. Nick has worked so hard to get to this point and because of that, he got into every school he applied to. We were really torn between Georgetown University and University of Maryland and basically have been going back and forth for weeks now. We were originally shooting for Georgetown because of it's excellent program but also because of the sentiment we feel in our hearts towards it. I had my transplant there three and half years ago and Brady was born there. Everytime we are there, we are impressed with the staff. Unfortunately, Nick's commute would be almost two hours each way and with the rigorous program, we didn't want his free time to be spent in a car - we want him all to ourselves. So the other day we both felt like Maryland was the way to go and today he sealed the deal - his voice sounded lighter somehow! I am so proud of him and excited to move on to our final days of school. I am excited for him to start doing what he really wants to do! I am just grateful that his hard work gave us options and that we were able to make a decision together that we both felt good about. We hear this program is extremely demanding so Brady and I are going to enjoy all the daddy time we can get until fall!!!

Life is Pretty Great

Brady's Blessing Day

Last Sunday Nick blessed Brady. I don't know, or I can't recall, a time I was more in love, more proud, more in tune with the spirit than I was that day. First of all, my three brother flew in from Utah and California for the weekend just to be in the circle. That alone was so touching and I hope one day Brady understands how loved he is and what a sacrifice that was for them. Next, I got to see my husband, this man who I adore, bless our little son. And honestly, I fell so much more in love with him as I watched him prepare spiritually the days before this special moment. He loves Brady and he loves being a dad and he took this very seriously. The day of the blessing I watched my dad, my three brothers, and my husband encircling Brady and all I could think was this is what life is all about. It was a great day! What also made it so special was that so much of Nick and my families were there. His two sisters came, my Grandma, and my cousin and his family. My grandmas is the reason my family has the church and she hasn't gone for a long time. I hope she was able to see the fruits of her labors that day. Of course I have to end with some pics of my boy!
